Lentil Curry

 

Our Lentil Curry is ideal for a meat-free, plant-based or vegan diet.

 

Our aromatic curry was prepared with our Pride of India Mild Vegetable Curry Spice, Pride of India Tumeric Powder, Homestyle Lentils (Breyani Dhall) and Homestyle Chana Dhall (Gram Dhall).

 

Serves 4.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients

3 tbsp oil

1 onion, finely sliced

3 tsp Pride of India Mild Vegetable Curry Spice

½ tsp Pride of India Tumeric Powder

150g Homestyle Lentils (breyani dhall), boiled

150g Homestyle Chana Dhall (gram dhall), boiled

1 tomato, grated/pureed

spring onions, for garnishing

Method

Soak Homestyle Lentils (breyani dhall) and Homestyle Chana Dhall (gram dhall) separately overnight or for a few hours.  Add water to cover and boil until soft.

 

Heat oil in a pot. Sauté onion until golden brown.

 

Add Pride of India Mild Vegetable Curry Spice, Pride of India Tumeric Powder and fry for approximately 1 minute.  Add a little water, if necessary.

 

Add tomato and cook until soft.

 

Add the boiled Homestyle Lentils (breyani dhall) and Homestyle Chana Dhall (gram dhall) and cook for approximately 5 minutes.

 

Season with salt. Add a little water.

 

Cook for a further 10-15 minutes or until you have achieved your desired consistency. 

 

Garnish with spring onions and serve with rice.
